Pristine Cosmetics

Cosmetics Line Proposal - december 2023

Pristine Cosmetics was a collaboration made with students from graphic design, textiles and interior design students tackling the brief of using our interdisciplinary skills to design a project in response to the ongoing climate crisis. The group devised a proposal for a parody cosmetics brand that criticises real-life brands and consumers who consciously contribute to climate change.

The idea was to launch ‘limited edition’ collections concerning a specific issue, with this exhibition’s launch touching on micro-plastics and their effects on marine life. Titled ‘Siren’ after the Greek mythological creatures known for luring sailors to their deaths, the collection aims to ironise how cosmetic brands appeal their products to unknowing consumers using certain design aesthetics.

Our collection includes 9 different products, all named in relation to our microplastics and ocean theme:

  • 3 Lagoona Lipglosses - Ethyl, Neptune, Palma

  • 2 Eyeshadow Palettes - Midnight Zone, Sunlight Zone

  • 2 Beaches & Cream Lip Scrubs - Sand, Sea Salt

  • Squid Ink Mascara & Eyeliner

The final products appeared in an exhibition in the form of a curated PR Box.
