Anxiety: The Solace of Digital Addiction

Editorial Illustration - October 2023

This illustration was made in response to an article from a New York Times Magazine article detailing the experiences of a first-time father coping with the birth of his daughter by indulging in his social media addiction.

The piece was made using mixed media - acrylic painting with textiles and embroidery, to appear cluttered and textured to recreate the claustrophobic stress-inducing feeling described in the article. The imagery of the womb stems from the fetal position’s psychological symbolism of being a natural coping mechanism, much like the author’s addiction.
